Work Health and Safety Policy


PURPOSE:

Rugby Farming Group is committed to providing a productive, safe and healthy work environment for employees, contractors, clients, customers and visitors on its premises. This commitment also extends to ensuring that the company’s operations do not place the local community at risk of injury, illness, property damage.

Rugby Farming Group has a proactive approach to WHS and believes all injuries and incidents are preventable.

 

OUR COMMITMENT

Rugby Farming Group will:

  • Develop strategies and plans to maintain best practice WHS and Risk Management principles
  • Encourage and enable all employees to take accountability for their health, safety and well being
  • Use a safety management system supported by documented policies, procedures and compliance audits
  • Ensure all workers are fit or duty and capable of performing their tasks without injuring themselves or their fellow workers
  • Consult and communicate with stakeholders, employees and contractors in assessing WHS issues for new business, new and existing work systems, practices and equipment
  • Implement WHS into everyday activities within the group
  • Encourage team problem solving at all levels of the organisation to implement work practices that continually improve WHS standards
  • Report and investigate incidents and implement systems and practices that prevent recurrence
  • Ensure compliance with the relevant legislative and other industry standards
  • Provide information, instruction and supervision to assist personnel in achieving safe work practices
  • Facilitate rehabilitation of injured workers
  • Develop and implement measurable WHS objectives and targets


RESPONSIBILITY

The Rugby Farming Group Management Team is responsible for implementing this policy in their respective area of responsibility. Compliance will be measured as part of annual performance reviews.

 

Management is responsible for:

  • Demonstrating commitment to Work Health and Safety through active participation in formal and informal discussions, investigations, workplace visits and hazard inspections
  • Maintaining compliance with Rugby Farming Group’s Work, Health and Safety Standards
  • The provision and maintenance of Rugby Farm workplaces in a safe condition
  • Involvement in the development, promotion and implementation of procedures that incorporate WHS systems and practices
  • Training employees and line managers in the competent performance of their assigned tasks
  • Effective use of company resources to meet the WHS standard

Employees and Contractors are to:

  • Comply with all Rugby Farming Group policies, procedures and systems of work
  • Report all known or observed hazards to their immediate supervisor or manager
  • Actively support and participate in the company’s WHS initiatives and programs
  • Contribute ideas that make our workplaces safer and more productive

 

CONSULTATION

The Rugby Farming Group Management team will participate in constructive and cooperative consultation with employees on Work Health and Safety matters and any workplace change that may affect Work Health and Safety.

 

REPORTING AND BREACHES

It is important that you are aware that breaches of this policy will be dealt with under the Grievance Policy and/or the Disciplinary Policy, and may result in legal or corrective action, including possible dismissal.
